+ Maison et Fondation Jean Lapointe

In 1972, Jean-Paul Préfontaine and Guy Ouimet , who were both personally involved in alcohol rehabilitation, decided to open the first Alcoholics Anonymous-inspired private treatment centre in Québec.

A year later, they formed a non-profit organization with the purpose of helping alcoholics as well as former alcoholics readapt to society.

The main objectives of this group are:

  • to provide literature and information to help alcoholics indentify their addiction

  • to establish a program of readaptation

  • to follow up with the rehabilitated alcoholic and ensure a smooth transition back into society
